'Paint-drawings'

Are they drawings? Are they paintings? Actually both. A hybrid form. A painting technique and a drawing subject. The washing and splashing affect of liquid material, large brushes, a large format and the high demands a subject sets on drawing expertise.

Drawing and painting of the (naked) human figure is, in an historical perspective, one of the basic concepts within the teaching of the visual arts. Drawing style is strongly subject to the spirit of the time. Since the beginning of the last century figure drawing has become an individual expression. The expression of personal freedom.

Margot's mixed technique employs East Indian ink, oil crayon and gouache. The oil-water principle results in characteristic effects. The black of the East Indian ink is combined with the use of clear colours; sparkling, intense, explosive, but also warm.

Realism with expression. the character of Margot's work has its own particular sort of drama. The figures seem to come from a play that deals with major questions of humanity.
